The match got off to a frenetic start as Rutherford came close to taking the lead within the first two minutes. Michael pounced on a loose ball, racing between the goalkeeper and defender, but his shot struck the post, with Joe just unable to convert the rebound. Rutherford continued to press forward, showing real intent and creativity in their attacking play.

A standout moment came shortly after when Michael narrowly missed the target following great work on the left from James Lee, who weaved past a couple of defenders before setting up the chance. Rutherford’s early pressure continued to build as they sought the opening goal.

It came in the 20th minute after a brilliantly executed throw-in. The ball was worked out, back, and through to Michael, who slotted home after a smart assist from Sam. Less than a minute later, Rutherford doubled their lead. Michael, once again, was the man on the scoresheet, this time firing a stunning long-range shot into the top corner, following more excellent build-up play from James Lee and a precise setup by Max Johnson.

However, Cleveland responded strongly and managed to pull one back on 26 minutes. 2-1 at half time.

The second half saw Cleveland grow in confidence, dominating the early exchanges. They equalized on 46 minutes, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Rutherford to make it 2-2. In response, Rutherford switched back to their preferred 1-3-5-2 formation, and it paid dividends.

Rutherford regained control of the midfield, and it wasn’t long before Michael completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute. Max Billingham’s superb cross-field ball found Michael, who finished with composure to give Rutherford a 3-2 lead. The pass from Max showcased great vision and technique, perfectly setting up the goal.

From this point on, Rutherford looked increasingly secure at the back and in control of the match. On the stroke of full-time, they sealed the win with a brilliant counter-attack. Max Johnson played a key role in the build-up, delivering a smart pass to Michael, who completed his hat-trick with a well-taken goal to make it 4-2.

Michael’s 4 goals was the standout moment, but the contributions of Sam who man marked the leagues top goalscorer out of the game, James Lee who was brilliant on the week, another assist from Max Billingham, Mason Porter who was brilliant in front of the back 3 and energy of Elliott and two assists from Max Johnson ensured the team performed as a cohesive unit. A great win and show of togetherness to bounce back from a disappointing defeat.
